                                                           Catherine the Martyr in Libya

Summary of the interview

The three daughters were in Libya, in their school they were the only Christians, Catherine were asked to wear the veil “Hijab” She refused and said I am Christian I can not wear it.
The principle of the school was a friend of their father “Martyr Magdy” he used to alert him that many life threats were directed to him and his daughters, they moved from a place to a place, till finally they settled in an apartment in a desert.

In the martyrdom day covered gun men came, killed their father then their mother then they kidnapped Catherine who was found two days later killed in the desert with four bullets like the shape of the Cross, the places of her wounds were illuminating, every one saw it.

After they saw their parents are already killed, they wanted to reach the school to speak to the Principle but they did not know the way, they just walked in eth desert and found themselves in the front of the school “ God was leading us” Carla said to the principle, my parents went to heaven and I do not know where is my sister.”

God was holding our hands greatly, during the time of martyrdom, as if God took from us the emotional senses so we can move on.

Finally the three departed returned to Egypt with the two sisters in Tanta to settle with their grandmother.

Quotes from the high schoolers who watch their video:

“ Like the girls who were among a sea full of people that are opposing them, we too live in a society where we are deemed as different. Trying to stay true to our faith like how the girls did, will be a fight that we will be up against for the rest of our Lives.” By Mariam T.

“They remained strong and never hesitated to not “follow the crowd”… I must always remain steadfast in the faith and never fall into the easy way out or fall into sin.” By Marina A.

“Here freedom is not going mindless in our lives, but rather an act of detachment from whatever bounds us on earth and keeps us away from heavenly life.” By Kareem S.

“ I was in awe of the girls’ attitude toward their situation. A lot of people today can not go on with their lives after such a tragedy. They look for comfort in other unhealthy ways such as addictions or developing unholy habits. Additionally, they look at themselves with pity, like questioning wy this had to happen to them or why God did not stop it from happening. They accepted their fate and did not let it ruin their relationship with God. If anything, their faith grew stronger.” By Youstina R

“Don’t take the church for granted. Since it’s so easily accessible to us, we forget and don’t realize how precious and valuable it is . We also tend t slack in our spiritual lives because we make excuses to not go to church, pray, etc. We need to stop these habits because heaven starts with your life now, so we must be prepared for the future. Truly appreciating the church helps us grow and develop a meaningful relationship and connection filled with love for God.” Mariam D

“We need to strengthen our faith because even though the two kids have no parents and a sister and they are still happy” Thomas T

“We should stop worrying about the worldly desires and focus more about heaven and how to strengthen our relationship with God.” Youssef M

“Sometimes it’s hard to ask God and call on him to help and guidance. By nature, we are greedy and in the face of difficulties we want to carry the burden alone. We should ask God for help for little things, great things. No task is too little or too small for God. And we should call on him constantly.” Jocelyn

“Help us to want to approach You, love You, turn to You, lean on You in anything and everything…Heal the blindness of our eyes and hearts so we can truly see you, feel You, be your friend. Thank you for the trials, and thank you for your promise to eb with us.” Mary  G

“ The connection with God will never be broken and that he will always be with us no matter what battle or predicament.” Mikhaiel M
