Theologians, please do not be upset

I recently attended a conference about Bible doctrine and the Church Fathers. Here is what I noticed: The Religious science used to be a window for the believers to transform their hearts and minds. “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:2

The Writing of St. Athanasius, St. Cyril and others are not meant to be a way to study hypotheses and create new theories, but are meant to be “Lex Credendi”[i] Which means, the way we believe in God, the true faith. Writing a paper about the writing of one of one of the saints should not occur without bringing it to our daily life, and how we believers can feed this knowledge into daily practice, bringing us closer to God.
St. Antony for us is not only the very fine portrait written story by St. Athanasius, it is St. Anthony’s life which changed St. Augustine after he wanted to commit a sin with a girl and then he read the life of St. Anthony when he said, “here you are seeking the wrong person as the person you are seeking is dead now.” It is the life of St. Antony which changed people. It is the life of St. Athanasius who counted himself as a having great blessings just by pouring water to wash St. Antony’s hands. This is the life of discipleship which changed those and their audience to the true knowledge of Christ.
لقد حضرت مؤخرا مؤتمرا عن تفسير الكتاب المقدس وآباء الكنيسه الكبار ، ولاحظت مايلى :
أن كانت العلوم الكنسية موجوده فهى موجوده لتكون نافذه تساعد المؤمنون على تفيير قلوبهم وعقولهم " ولا تشاكلوا هذا الدهر، بل تغيروا عن شكلكم بتجديد أذهانكم، لتختبروا ما هي إرادة الله: الصالحة المرضية الكاملة: روميه 12: 2.



ان كتابات القديس أثناسيوس والقديس كيرلس وغيرهم لم يكن الهدف منها وضع قاعده أو نظريه جديده انما كانت تعنى شئ واحد وهو مايسمى فى اللاتينى ب "ليكس كريدنتى"[ii] اى الايمان السليم، طريقه ايماننا بالله الايمان المستقيم. ان كتابه رساله عن كتابات هؤلاء القديسون يجب أن تكون ممزوجه بالحياة اليوميه . وكيف يمكن للمؤمن أن يستفيد من هذه المعلومات فى حياته اليوميه، حتى تاتى بالانسان وتساعده فى القربه (أن يكون قريب 
من الله)  الى الله.


  القديس أنطونيوس ليس فقط قطعه فنيه كتبت لنا من القديس أثناسيوس ، بل ان حياه أنطونيوس هى التى غيرت القديس أغسطينوس عنما قراءها وكان ينظر فتاة ليمارس معها الخطيه وعندما طرقت بابه أعلمها أن اغسطينوس القديم غير موجود بل ميت" هى حياة انطونيوس التى غيرت الناس. هى حياه أثناسيوس الذى اعتبر نفسه فى أخذا بركه عظيمة لأنه سكب الماء على يد أنطونيوس. هى حياه التلمذة التلا غيرت هؤلاء ومن يسمعهم ايضا لمعرفة ربنا يسوع المسيح المعرفه الحقيقة.

Hopefully the next conferences done about Church Fathers we learn from them not only by singing in opera form their about their writing, but singing their lives when we follow them. 

 Would that your life be source of transforming others.

أتمنى أن المؤتمرات القادمة عن أباء الكنيسة بدلا من أن نتغنى 
بكتابتهم كقطعه أوبرالية  بل نتغنى بتتبعنا لحياتهم .


  هل من اللمكن أن تكون سبب لتعير الآخرين .

Excerpts from St. Cyril of Alexandria commentary on The Book of Jonah

I summarized some points worth mentioning by our great father St. Cyril of Alexandria :  1- The book of Jonah is a "shadow" to the "mystery of the Incarnation of our Saviour". 2- We should not apply the whole story to Jesus, as for example "he was sent to preach to the Ninevites, but tried to flee from the face of God, and proved reluctant about his mission; the Son also was sent by the God and Father to preach to the nations, but did not lack enthusiasm for his ministry, nor seek to flee from the face of the God and Father."  3- the story is meant to be a comparison between how the gentiles accepted the preaching while the Jews rejected it "what happened was by way of condemnation of Israel; they were convicted of being forward, unresponsive, paying little heed to the laws of God.After all, at a single prophet's preaching . the Ninevites were instantly brought around to a sense of obligation to repent, despite suffering from extreme deception

The real spiritual struggle is to spend time with God in your room. Pope Shenouda in front of his cave in the desert  His Holiness Pope Shenouda as we commemorate His Departure on March 17 th once said, the minute you want to sit with yourself to evaluate yourself, the Satan will not allow you to do so, as he knows the power which can come out of your sincere meeting with yourself. Tamav Erene while she is praying in one of the meeting with the people  Tamav Erene the abbess of St. Philopater Mercurius Convent for nuns in Old Cairo once said when she visited US. A day in my cell is better than all these beautiful views in the US. She found God in her very tight room, she made her room paradise.
