We are creating the Pharaoh

In my service I started to realize this concept about we are creating pharaohs.  Sometimes, I see a “movement” started by one of the youth and later many people were attracted to this “movement.” Later this group becomes led by this person, and whatever s/he says they follow, mindlessly.  This phenomenon reflects another deep problem:  why do you not have your own self-identity and instead of being just an enslaved by another person’s identity, being an identity yourself who seeks God’s unique stamp in your life.

My advice to those “pharaohs” who enslave others, be careful my beloved, ruining minds is a great tragedy, do not be part of it. The blessed St. Paul said, “Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ” (1 Corinthians 11:1). So Christ is the focus.

Here is a simple tool for discovering if your participation in a meeting or group will be valuable to you:  Ask yourself the following questions: 1- What is the objective? 2- Why are we meeting? 3- What makes this group unique from another group? 4- How we see ourselves within five years from now? 5-How will my participation develop me for the better?

Ghandi’s famous words are a reminder that you don’t have to wait for others to change the world:

"We but mirror the world. All the tendencies present in the outer world are to be found in the world of our body. If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. This is the divine mystery supreme. A wonderful thing it is and the source of our happiness. We need not wait to see what others do." Where others paraphrase it “ be the change you want to see in the world” [i]
